These photos are all screen grabs from a short film shot using Rosco Gels for cinema. The first photo is of a bartender experiencing an extraterrestrial event from inside of his tired bar late at night. The lights coming through the window are an Arri T12 and 3 1,000watt Pars all gelled with Rosco3202 Full CTB. The second photo is a shot from earlier in the film as the bartender makes his way around cleaning up the bar before closing.

1) I chose the primary color in this photo (R22) in order to accurately capture what a dust storm looks like. The dust bowl is reported to have turned the skies red, and research images of a dust storm in Australia in the past decade inspired the exact shade. It was also chosen to match the opening line of the play, which is "The dawn came, but no day." I wanted to capture the emotion of that line as well.

Use of R60 as a cool downlight special in an interrogation room. And use of R60 and R02 on a warm cool wash.

During the musical of "Into the woods" the cow goes into the woods with her owner to be sold. She is then traded for beans from the baker and his wife. At the end they meet the witch and try to get their baby, but she uses the items to get younger.

Tech week, Day 1. Front of house primarily R02 for warm sunlight 'outdoor' feeling, balconies sidelit with R70 for cool fill and more of an airy feel. Also, I like saying, "Bastard Amber" as often as possible.

1) Werner Heisenberg (the Nazi physicist) gathers his papers as he reminisces. He's inside a small house, and it's night outside. I used R69 on the wall to suggest a dim dusk sky, and an R06 toplight to suggest the overly-yellow feel of primitive incandescent lights.

This is during "I Believe" when Melchior and Wendla are in the hayloft right before intermission. I wanted the rest of the children to be shadowy and dark. I choose brilliant blue to help create the wistful feelign of the song, while keeping the chorus more obscure.
