There are only a few colors I've consistently come back to through 20 years of dance lighting design, covering 50+ full-length concerts and literally hundreds of individual pieces. One of those is the immensely flexible R99. This color is often poo-poo'd as a beginner's choice or a novelty color in Rosco's lineup, but I say it's one of the most expressive and useful colors in the library.

Photo 1: R59 and R357 were used to create saturate lavenders for a surreal party atmosphere.
Photo 2: R57 and R53 keep the atmosphere, but light skin well
Photo 3: R15 (I think it was doubled) used here for it's power and contrast, the vivid sharpness of this color helped heighten the violence in this moment of the play
Production: The Pains of Youth, Tooth and Nail Theatre Co. SLC, Utah

The photos are of Act2 Theatre Company's production of Thorton Wilder's Our Town. The High School production directed by Rob Roy, TD'd by Richard Williams, encompassed a new direction to the show, relocating the setting to the small town of Pinckney, MI in order to raise money for the Pinckney Historic Society. Designed by a High School student, the lighting design was meant to enhance the story and help to make both the plot and moral clear for the audience members.
